The reviews on Amazon ...Thanks for the comment, Jo. The reviews on Amazon and Goodreads for Rogue Male do vary; some say it's a masterpiece, others say it's overrated. It probably sits in between those extremes. Your reference to the catgut - even that sequence was treated loosely, not really visually (possibly thankfully!) I do wonder if Household thought of the catgut idea first and then decided there had to be a cat that befriended the narrator! A memorable scene, though much is left to the imagination...Nik Mortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10060923673065456386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2421642745880281653.post-20802097396988108852016-08-27T18:48:19.801+00:002016-08-27T18:48:19.801+00:00A very interesting review but you still haven'...A very interesting review but you still haven't sold it to me. I'm still adamant it's the worst book I've ever had to read (this is, of course, in reference to the recent questions you asked me for your blog). I remember my English teacher saying something about it having echoes of the assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand and a scene where he uses cat gut. Glad you were able to confirm that it has a limited number of chapters, which I remember I hated about it as there was no logical place to stop reading. The 39 Steps is, in my opinion, a very good book that has translated well into several different films. However, each to his own and I'm sure there is someone out there who loves Rogue Male as much as I loathe it.Jo Walpolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13972318968316588965noreply@blogger.com
